The week COVID-19 began reshaping “normal,” Chestnut Grove gave birth to our first ever “pandemic-born” fruit-bearing partnership: the Pasture to Produce project.
Combining donated land, labor, and farming expertise, our partnership is slated to produce 4800-5200 lbs of calorie-rich vegetables which will supplement existing food pipelines serving our “food insecure” neighbors in the months ahead. The ground has been prepared. All future steps including garden shaping, soil amending, seed and seedling planting, fencing, weeding, watering, and harvesting will be coordinated using SignUp Genius.
Jonathan Proffitt of Restoration Produce is the lead produce consultant, designing to maximize yield on land donated by the Philkill and Bailey families. All interested partners are welcome! If you are willing to donate or sponsor, please contact Aaron or Mitzi.
